Can it be seen through? What is the composition of the fabric?

We chose a thick fabric that can not see through the material. The composition is 65%Cotton + 35%Polyester, comfortable soft and breathable.

I don’t know if I like having to tie it in the front. Is it optional or it not look right if you don’t tie it?

You can tie it as tightly or as loosely as you'd like to get the fit you want. You may be able to get away with wearing it untied, tucked in with some high waist pants.
